Back in Singapore after almost a year’s staggering about in the near, and distant, north. All of Asia is beautiful, the people extraordinarily enchanting, decent, kind, civilised and friendly.
But Singapore is something special.
We all remember reading about powerful city states in ancient times, Athens, Thebes etc. Singapore is the spiritual descendant of these, with Lee Kwan Yue as Pericles, forging a tiny island nation unto itself, polyglot, multi-bulti cultural, chindian, malupeon, euroasian, with its glorious head and shoulders jutting into the future and its feet clinging to the past, it’s a blast.
My favorite in Singapore is the statue of the little boys jumping into water from the quay. I bet Malaysia is kicking itself now for having kicked out Singapore at the start!

You came to Singapore?! Hope you enjoyed it. Though from the pics of your post, looks like you went to some trippy places. 😉

Hi Ee. I loved it, unfortunately I was on my own as Kristen had to dash back to Oz to get to a much loved Uncle’s death bed. Are you likely to come to Sydney ?
