Buddha’s Field

Snatch the seeds from our hand grasshoppers and repeat after us, “Life is but an illusion”.

Just south of Vientiane, along the muddy meandering path of that coffee coloured Mother of antiquity, the Mekong, a colossal field of Buddhas lies dreaming.

This glorious and apparently ancient field is in fact a modern illusion begun in 1958 by Buddhist Priest/Shaman Luang Pu who dreamt of a synthesis between Buddhism and Hinduism.  So a concrete cavalcade of deities was born, Bhuddas, Angels, Demons and animals frolic across the field.

Some are made of rock…others are born to rock.

Some seem somehow strangely familiar

Some snap and some pose
